UL certified labels
In use for export to America and Canada
Production of labels with UL and CSA approval / UL labels
GARREIS has been an official partner of UL since 2015 and produces UL-certified labels. At the end of 2020, we also received approval for multicolored pre-printed UL labels. All UL labels are manufactured by us according to customer requirements!
With labels for individual identification
GARREIS has UL certification and is authorized to supply blank and fully printed UL labels. Labels with UL and CSA approval provide recognized assurance that a product complies with safety standards and may be sold in the US and Canada. This requires our company to have UL certification. The labels serve to ensure that the individual labeling of your products complies with all approvals.
UL-certified labels / type plates
Labels used for product identification in the form of nameplates must be UL tested, approved and certified. UL tests this requirement in accordance with the American standard UL 969 and the Canadian standard CSA C22.2. No.0.015.15. Only nameplates that have passed this test may be used on the products concerned. Numerous industries, such as mechanical and electrical engineering, require these special labels to mark their products with safety-relevant information.
GARREIS UL approvals
To ensure that a product meets the American and Canadian safety requirements, there is the UL and a CSA test mark (UL stands for Underwriters Laboratories). These test marks certify that a product meets the safety standards and may be sold in the US and Canada. GARREIS has UL certification and is authorized to supply blank and fully printed UL labels.

GARREIS UL approvals are registered with UL under the following product categories:
- PGJI - 2/8: Component printing material file no. MH60640
PGDQ- 2/8: Marking and labelling systems Component File No. MH60639
PGAA: Authorised label supplier File-No. LP5308
Since the end of 2020, we have also had approval for multicolored pre-printed UL labels, for example with a company logo. Direct UL-relevant printing can also be in color.
We also have UL approval to apply a protective laminate to the printed UL labels. This perfect solution results in a label that provides practically 100% protection against adverse influences such as wiping, scratching and solvents.
UL approval
In the UL-listed nameplates area, a distinction is made between various fields of application for the labels. These are divided into so-called groups (files). Only if a company has also approved materials in these categories and can provide proof of a corresponding certificate can labels and UL nameplates be offered or manufactured. With this certification, we have been an official partner of UL since 2015. To print your products or individual labels, you also need the appropriate ribbons.
We have listed the most important groups (files) below and briefly described them for you:
PGJI 2/8 (Printing Materials - Component):
With labels from the PGJI 2/8 approval (2 stands for USA; 8 stands for Canada), end users are completely independent and can apply thermal transfer printing to blank labels or even partially pre-printed labels themselves. The thermal transfer ribbons required for this must also have UL approval for the material.
The GARREIS own brands GET.strong and GET.proof (resin for flat-head printers) and GET.extreme (resin for near-edge printers) are available to our customers for this purpose.
The range is completed with the thermal transfer film AXR7+ and AXR8 from ARMOR, which we also offer. Get in touch with us and let our service team advise you on UL type plates.
This gives the end user the highest degree of flexibility and allows them to react individually to different circumstances in their day-to-day business!
The test results of our listed materials can be viewed in the UL online directory at https://database.ul.com/cgi-bin/XYV/template/LISEXT/1FRAME/index.html with the UL file number MH60640.
PGDQ 2/8 (Marking and Labeling Systems - Component):
With labels from the PGDG 2/8 approval (2 stands for USA; 8 stands for Canada), end users receive labels that have been completely printed with thermal transfer film and can be applied directly to the corresponding product in the same way. GARREIS only uses thermal transfer films that have been approved by UL for printing the labels.
This means that the end user receives a ready-to-use label that only needs to be affixed!
The test results of our listed materials can be viewed in the UL online directory at http://database.ul.com/cgi-bin/XYV/template/LISEXT/1FRAME/index.html with the UL file number MH60639.
PGAA (Authorized Label Supplier):
The so-called "Authorised Label Supplier Program" (PGAA for short) authorises the holder of this approval to produce UL logos in compliance with certain requirements and standards and thus to print them on labels. Only holders of this listing may also apply UL logos to labels. All other UL registrations, such as PGDQ 2/8 or PGJI 2/8, authorise the manufacturer to produce only UL-compliant labels (without logo).
TEOU 2+8 (Repackaged Reconized Components):
The UL approval TEOU only authorises the punching and repackaging of the adhesive materials and not the printing of labels! The printing of these labels by a print shop is not permitted and would invalidate the conformity.
